Saint Samuel the Prophet

Saint · Common of Holy Men and Women

The Commemoration of Saint Samuel, prophet, who, called by God while still a boy and then fulfilling the office of judge in Israel, at God’s command anointed Saul as king over the people; but when Saul was afterward rejected by the Lord for his unfaithfulness, Samuel conferred the royal anointing also upon David, from whose lineage Christ was to be born.
