At London in England, Blessed Richard Bere, priest and martyr, who, by order of King Henry the Eighth, for his fidelity to the Roman Pontiff and his defense of Christian matrimony, together with his Carthusian brethren of that city, was long worn down by the squalor of prison and by hunger, and so breathed his last.
