Blessed Paul-Jean Charles

On a prison ship anchored in the open sea off the coast of Rochefort in France, Blessed Paul-Jean Charles, priest and martyr, who, prior of the Cistercians, when the French persecution was raging, was carried off by its agents on account of his priesthood from the monastery of Sept-Fons to confinement on the ships, and died, overcome by starvation and disease.
