On the Bosphorus, by the Propontis, the passing of Saint Nicephorus, Bishop of Constantinople, who, a most ardent champion of the traditions of the Fathers, steadfastly set himself against the iconoclast emperor Leo the Armenian on behalf of the veneration of sacred images; driven from his see by him and long confined in a monastery, he passed to the Lord with a tranquil spirit.

Apud Bósphorum 1n Propóntide, tránsitus sancti Nicéphori, epíscopi Constantinopolitáni, qui, paternárum traditiónum propugnátor acérrimus, pro cultu sacrárum Imáginum Leóni Arméno imperatóri iconoclástaze constánter se oppósuit; a quo sede pulsus et in monastério diu relegátus, aequo ánimo ad Dóminum migrávit.
