The holy martyrs Marcellinus, a priest, and Peter, an exorcist, who, as Pope Saint Damasus relates, when the persecution of the Emperor Diocletian was raging, were condemned to death and led to the place of execution amid brambles; and, so that their bodies might remain hidden from all, they were ordered to dig their own grave with their own hands. But a devout woman, Lucilla, laid their holy remains to rest at Rome on the Via Labicana, in the cemetery at the Two Laurels.
