On a squalid ship anchored in the open sea off Rochefort in France, Blessed John Baptist Menestrel, priest and martyr, who, during the upheaval of the French Revolution, was condemned to the prison hulks because of his priesthood and, afflicted with festering wounds, completed his martyrdom.
