Blessed Innocent V, Pope

At Rome in the Lateran, Blessed Innocent V, pope, who, of the Order of Preachers, taught sacred theology at Paris and, having reluctantly accepted the episcopal see of Lyon, together with Saint Bonaventure presided over the Ecumenical Council for the union between the Latins and the separated Greeks; then, raised to the chair of Peter, he fulfilled the office of Supreme Pontiff for a very brief time, shown rather than given to the Roman Church.
