Saint Germanicus

Saint · Common of Martyrs · Smyrna (İzmir), Turkey · d. c. 165

At Smyrna in Asia, the passion of Saint Germanicus, martyr, who, in the time of the emperors Marcus Antoninus and Lucius Aurelius, was a disciple of Saint Polycarp, whom he preceded in martyrdom; for, while flourishing in the bloom of his early youth and condemned by the judge, by the power of God he cast out all fear of his body’s frailty and of his own accord provoked the beast made ready for him.
