Saint Francis of Paola, hermit, who, as founder of the Order of Minims in Calabria, prescribed for his disciples that they live on alms, holding nothing as their own and never touching money, and that they always use only Lenten foods. Summoned into France by King Louis XI, he assisted him as he lay dying, and at Plessis near Tours, renowned for the austerity of his life, he died.
