At Tivoli in Latium, the passing of Blessed Eugene III, pope, who, a beloved disciple of Saint Bernard, served as abbot over the monastery of Saints Vincent and Anastasius ad Aquas Salvias, and, elected to the Roman See, earnestly devoted himself to defending the Christian people of the City from the snares of the infidels and to restoring ecclesiastical discipline for the better.
