At Damascus in Syria, the passion of the blessed martyrs Emmanuel Ruiz, priest, and his companions — seven of the Order of Friars Minor and three faithful brothers of the Maronite Church — who, treacherously handed over to their enemies by a traitor and afflicted with various torments for the faith, completed their martyrdom by a glorious death.
Their names are: Blessed Carmelo Volta, Pedro Soler, Nicolás Alberca, Engelbert Kolland, and Nicanor Ascanio, priests, together with Francisco Pinazo and Juan Jacobo Fernández, religious, of the Order of Friars Minor; and Francis, Abdel Mooti, and Raphael Massabki, brothers.
