At Lancaster, likewise in England, Saint Edmund Arrowsmith, priest of the Society of Jesus and martyr, a native of the same duchy, who, after many years devoted to pastoral care in his homeland as a priest and having led many to the Catholic faith, against the will of the local Protestants, was hanged and died under King Charles I.
