Saint Dominic Nicholas Dinh Dat, Martyr

In the city of Nam Định in Tonkin, Saint Dominic Nicholas Dinh Dat, martyr, who, being a soldier and compelled to deny the Christian faith, after dire torments trampled upon the cross; but at once repenting of the deed, he returned the price of his apostasy and wrote to the emperor Minh Mạng that he might again be judged a Christian, and at last died by strangulation.

In urbe Nam Dinh in ‘unquíno, sancti Domínici Nicolái Dinh Dat, mártyris, qui, cum esset miles, fidem christiánam negáre coáctus, JULIUS 399 post dira supplícia crucem calcávit; sed statim de re pénitens, prétio apostásize réddito, imperatóri Minh Mang scripsit, ut dénuo iudicarétur christiánus, ac tandem strangulátus occübuit.
