Saint Alexander the Charcoal-Burner

At Comana in Pontus, Saint Alexander, surnamed the Charcoal-Burner, bishop, who, having gained from philosophy the eminent knowledge of Christian humility and having been raised by Saint Gregory Thaumaturgus to the see of that Church, became renowned not only by his preaching but also by a martyrdom completed through fire.
