The commemoration of Saint Prosper of Aquitaine, who, learned in philosophy and letters, led an upright and modest life with his wife and, having become a monk at Marseilles, strenuously defended the teaching of Saint Augustine concerning the grace of God and the gift of perseverance against the Pelagians, and at Rome served in the office of secretary to Pope Saint Leo the Great.
