About the Roman Martyrology

The Martyrologium Romanum (Roman Martyrology) is the official liturgical book of the Latin Church that records each day the saints and blesseds commemorated by the universal Church. The 2004 editio typica altera (second typical edition) is the source for the entries in this archive.

The pages linked below contain the official front-matter of the 2004 edition translated into English: the Vatican decrees of promulgation, the introductory norms (Praenotanda), the rite for reading the Martyrology, the short readings used during the proclamation, the proper elogia for movable feasts, and the lunar and dominical letters used to compute movable observances.
