The memorial of Saint Agnes, virgin and martyr, who, while still a young girl, offered at Rome the supreme witness of faith and consecrated her purity by martyrdom; for she overcame both her tender age and the tyrant, won the deepest admiration among the nations, and gained an even greater glory before God. On this day the burial of her body is celebrated.
