At London in England, Blessed Edward Powell, Richard Featherstone, and Thomas Abel, priests and martyrs, who, being doctors of sacred theology, opposed the divorce proposed by King Henry the Eighth and tenaciously persevered in fidelity to the Roman Pontiff. For this, after imprisonment in the Tower of the city, they were hanged on the gallows at Smithfield.
