At Leopoldov in Slovakia, Blessed Paul (Peter) Gojdich, bishop and martyr, who, as pastor in the territory of Prešov, was cast into prison in a time of rule hostile to God. Atrociously tormented, he suffered such great afflictions that, faithfully receiving the words of Christ, he passed through a steadfast confession of faith into glorious life.
